  报告人简介:张科春博士,2001年本科毕业于中国科技大学高分子专业,2007年于美国加州理工大学(California Institute of Technology)获化学专业博士学位,2007-2010年在美国洛杉矶加利福尼亚大学(University of California--Los Angeles)从事博士后研究。2010年至今美国明尼苏达大学(University of Minnesota)副教授。2013年获得美国American Heart Association National Scientist Development Grant Award,同年获得3M Non-tenured Faculty Award,2014年获得美国Inaugural University of Minnesota Innovation Award,2015年入选明尼苏达大学为McKnight Land-Grant Professor。目前主要研究方向为生物合成,催化、分离与反应工程等。

  报告摘要:Conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added products provides significant environmental and economic benefits. Here we report the engineering of an unconventional metabolism for the production of TCA cycle derivatives from D-xylose, L-arabinose, and D-galacturonate. We designed a growth-based selection platform to identify gene clusters functional in Escherichia coli that can perform this nonphosphorylative assimilation of sugars into the TCA cycle in less than 6 steps. To demonstrate the application of this new metabolic platform, we built biosynthetic pathways to 1,4-butanediol, mesaconate and glutamate, with high production rate, yield and titer. This work demonstrates the potential of nonphosphorylative metabolism for biomanufacturing with improved biosynthetic efficiencies.
